HISTORY
Our chapter’s true beginnings predated its formal conception in the 1980’s. In the 1970’s an informal networking group of young administrators met at local hospitals and hosted annual dinners to support healthcare leaders. Seeing the impact of this network of young leaders, the group was founded formally in 1985, becoming the Metrolina Young Administrators Group in Charlotte, NC who continued to grow in a variety of areas in healthcare. In the 1990’s, the Metrolina Health Executive Forum was recognized as an official ACHE Chapter. Membership grew to include physicians, practice managers, insurance agents, recruitment firms, and suppliers who would come together at an annual dinner with keynote speakers, becoming a mainstay of the group.
In 2003, Metrolina Young Administrators Group became the Greater Charlotte Healthcare Executives Group (GCHEG) – to embrace the Charlotte area and surrounding region as an expanding group of healthcare professions, reflecting all aspects of healthcare leadership and disciplines. In 2024, the chapter rebranded, becoming ACHE of Greater Charlotte (ACHE-GC). Reflecting the ACHE-GC mission and vision, the chapter is experiencing record membership levels both locally and nationally, aligning to the value and respect of our parent organization by being the chapter of choice by professionals in the industry.
